Website Pages - Handy sentences layout
If you need help understanding the layout of this page, then don't worry! These pages are really useful, but can look a little frightening at first. We'll use the 'The weather is...' page for our example. Here it is:
Here's our sentence.
「location」 の てんき は 「weather」 「のち「weather」」 で 「temperature と」 でしょう。
「location」 の てんき は 「weather」 「のち「weather」」 で 「temperature と」 でしょう。
「location」- Insert a location here. This can be a city, town, place, anything.
「weather」- Insert the weather here. This can be cloudy, sunny, etc. For a list of what to put, click here.
「のち「」」- Only include the orange text is you want to add 'later'. For example: It's sunny now, later cloudy.
「temperature と」- Only insert this if you wish to add a temperature. This will just be a number.
So at the top, there's our sentence, but there's quite a few English words in there too inside brackets. Brackets will mean one of two things:
1) That the word inside them needs to be replaced - like the 「location」 bracket.
2) The backet is completely optional, and can be skipped.
Let's look at the first reason. In the 「location」bracket, the word location is described below. It tells you to replace the word location with a town, city, place, etc. These are pretty self explanatory.
However, some brackets are optional, like the 「temperature と」bracket. Below, where I explain each bracket, you will see that I've started the sentence with 'Only'. If you see that, you'll know that the bracket is optional, and that you can completely skip it out.
Sometimes, you may get brackets in brackets, like the 「のち「weather」」 bracket. In this case, it means later and can be skipped. But if you include it, the bracket inside that must be included too.
I hope this has cleared up any confusion you may have. If you're still confused, fill out the form at Contact. Just remember to paste this code at the beginning of the form:
